Nesting Structures<\/span><\/span><\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Nesting structures are man-made devices for use by waterfowl and other birds that supplement or replace the natural nesting locations that have been impacted by development or other loss of habitat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For cavity nesting birds like wood ducks, buffleheads, goldeneyes, and hooded mergansers, wood duck boxes can provide a safe, comfortable alternative for the tree cavities Wisconsin has lost in the past century.\u00a0 <\/span>Hen houses can provide a safe location for mallards to nest away from predation.<\/p>\n

WWA has the largest wood duck box operation in the state, with volunteers maintaining hundreds of boxes every year across the state. We are also the best source for inexpensive, high-quality boxes<\/span><\/a> (or kits) that you can establish on your property. \u00a0 <\/span>These efforts produce thousands of ducklings each year, which has a multiplying effect as those ducklings mature and return to Wisconsin to raise their own broods.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
